Obesity Continues to Rise in the United States
A recent study released from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows obesity levels continue to climb in the United States. In 2009, no state met the obesity target of 15%, and the overall prevalence of obesity among adults had increased 1.1 percentage points from 2007. Overall obesity prevalence in the US was an alarming 26.7%. Arizona came in between 25-29%.
Obese adults are at increased risk for many serious health conditions, including coronary hear disease, hypertension, stroke, diabetes, and premature death. One critical health factor that tends to increase with weight gain is snoring and sleep apnea. The relationship between these diseases and sleep apnea grows monthly in medical research.
At our Glendale sleep dentistry center, we help many patients improve the quality and longevity of their lives with oral appliance therapy to reduce significantly the impact of sleep apnea. If you suffer from untreated snoring and sleep apnea, do not ignore this threat to your health. Visit sleep apnea dentist Dr. Donald Wilcox who has helped many Phoenix and Glendale sleep apnea patients improve their quality of life.
